01 / REVIEW
Use separate fields
Record stated harvest country, processing country and shipping country independently. A seller’s address belongs to the supplier record. None of these fields should silently populate another.
02 / REVIEW
Attach the statement
For each location, record the issuer and document reference. A location claim needs a relationship to the lot or shipment under review. If the statement covers a wider supply program, record that limitation.
03 / REVIEW
Ask the unresolved question
When a required harvest statement is missing, request it directly. Consult the applicable current official requirements with the importer or qualified adviser; this workspace is not an import declaration service.
Do not turn a business address into a forest origin
A shipment can pass through several places. Harvest, processing, storage, export and sale can occur in different locations. Record which event each location describes. The address on an invoice identifies a party to the transaction; it does not necessarily identify where the tree grew.
Ask the issuer to state the scope of an origin claim and the material it covers. Keep the original level of detail. If the evidence supports only a country, do not add a region or forest name to make the record look complete.
Separate locations in the record
| Location type | Question to answer |
|---|---|
| Harvest | Where does the supporting source say the wood originated? |
| Processing | Where was the recorded transformation performed? |
| Storage | Where was the lot held at the recorded time? |
| Export or shipment | Which movement does this location describe? |
| Seller | Which business issued the commercial document? |
In a fictional transaction, the seller is in Country A, the processing record names Country B and the origin statement names Country C. That pattern is not itself a contradiction. The review asks whether the documents connect the same material through those events.
A missing connection is still a gap even if every individual document appears plausible. Record the question narrowly: which document links the processed lot to the stated harvest source? That request is more useful than asking for another general company brochure.
A lot-record scenario
Fictional example: boards ship from a distributor in country A, are processed in country B and carry an unresolved harvest statement. The harvest field stays unknown until supported information is supplied.
Use the result
Keep the completed review with the relevant project record. Assign unresolved items before relying on a conclusion. If the material, condition or document changes, revisit the affected questions.
